Welcome, I’m Jorge Ratia
I’m a social neuroscientist exploring the biological bases of human morality
and I work to make these ideas accessible to everyone, beyond academia.
RESEARCH INTERESTS: · METACOGNITION · COGNITIVE BIASES · POLITICAL NEUROSCIENCE · MORAL DECISION-MAKING · NEUROIMAGING · BIOBEHAVIORAL DATA ANALYSIS · EXPERIMENTAL BIOETHICS.
What do I do?
I study how people interpret the world and how they make decisions about it, especially in tense social and political contexts. My work combines experimental neuroscience with applied psychological research, using methods such as EEG, fMRI, and behavioral analysis.
Beyond running studies, I work across the full research process. I design experiments, analyze data, and synthesize complex findings, from academic papers to reports for policymakers and organizations.
Alongside research, I work in science communication and consulting. I write for general audiences and collaborate with -public and private- institutions to translate scientific information into informative stories.

WHAT COLLEAGUES SAY
“I’ve interacted with Jorge over an extended academic collaboration. During this time, I have observed the development of a meticulous and creative scientific researcher. His work combines scientific rigor, originality, and a significant contribution to the emerging discipline of political neuroscience, as well as to the broader field of cognitive science.”

“Jorge shows heart for his job. His students wrote the best reviews about him. They said things such as 'Jorge should be teaching every course' . The students love him because he really takes the time to explain concepts and give examples. He also shows enthusiasm and passion when he teaches and that gives the students extra motivation.

“You led the ABC journal with such passion and dedication, giving us all an amazing example of what a true leader is. I was very lucky to work with you as an ABC journal board member. I truly felt sad that our collaboration had to end, as you created and led a supportive work space where people could give their best”
